There is NO Plan B ~ Based on a sermon by Pastor Kevin Dudley, September 7, 2014

John 9:1-5  As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.  As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.  While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”  (John 9:1-5 NIV)

There never has been nor will there ever be a Plan B.  God has a plan for our lives, a greater purpose that does not include an escape or an alternate route.  We may not see the results of His plan but we must be confident that God’s plan is working and active in our lives.  The life that we have must surrender to what God is already working out.  The life that we have is the life that we need.  There is NO plan B.

We can be faced with stress and struggle that is difficult to work through.  We can’t quit, we must push through and let the glory of God be evident in our lives.  How easy is it to give God the glory when things are going well, when we have money, friends, and good health?  Don’t allow people to be distracted by how you got to this point in your life, ask God how He can get the glory while He is bringing you through.  God wants to show up and show out in our lives, just as He did for the blind man.  Certain situations in our life we have no control over, nothing that we can change to make it better, these are the times that we must give God the glory.

God’s glory is revealed in our accessibility – God shows up for the handicap accessible. We are all handicap; have a disability and some area of our life that is broken that is in desperate need of Jesus.  We may not like our disability; but it is our deficiency that demonstrates that God always has a way to get in.  Look at it as your problem being a doorway for divine access.  Never put yourself in a position where you think you have everything so well put together that you lock God out from gaining access and receiving the glory in your life.

God’s glory can be found in our possibility – All things are possible through Christ’s strength.  We are able to recognize that something is wrong, which means that there is the possibility to make it right.  Never get too comfortable, stop wanting, stop dreaming. Thank God for the discomfort as our minds are opened for the possibilities, the possibilities where God gets the glory.  Think beyond your possessions; imagine greater and give God the room to get the glory out of your circumstance.  Look at your need, but then look to God to do what he does in the midst of your need. Give God the glory, there is NO plan b.

God’s glory is revealed in our visibility – The blind man is recognized because he has a handicap.  He would not be significant in this text if something were not wrong with him.  You need to let others see what Jesus can do with your life. God is our provider, Jehovah-Jireh, the one that sees to it.  Your life matters to God. He sees you where you are and is working to meet the need that you have right where you are.

God’s plan is in motion.  Give God access to your life. Imagine the possibilities through Jesus. God wants to be glorified in all that we do. No matter what you are going through, God will see to it. Give God the glory because there is NO plan b.
